Intellectual Property Rights Programme
Intellectual Property Rights given to the owner by the state to control the use of his/her new creations or inventions for a limited period of time, are vital for the socio- economic prosperity of the nation. These rights help in promoting creativity and inventiveness through dissemination of new knowledge or products and encourage fair competition. Considering the requirement CSTUP take care of promoting and disseminating issues related to IPR through following programmes:-
1. Patent Information Centre
  • This centre has been setup in CSTUP in collaboration with Deptt. of Science & Technology, Govt. of India, New Delhi to provide regional level services regarding IPR.
Objectives:
  • Create awareness about IPRs, especially patents, in the neighbouring regions and develop and IP-Culture in the state.
  • Enable prior art searches for Universities, Industries, Government Departments and R&D institutions in the State.
  • Analyze the patent information on a regular basis and suggest new programme for R&D based on such information.
  • Guide inventors in respect of patenting their inventions & protecting their creations, designs and trademark.
  • Catalyze protection of GI's of the State.
2. Intellectual Property Facilitation Centre for MSMEs
Objectives:
  • Co-locating IPR Facilitation Centre of MSMEs in PIC, UP
  • To indentify IP needs of selected clusters of MSMEs in the state of U.P. and evolve solutions.
  • Creating IP culture in selected MSMEs.
  • To extend technical support in facilitating IP rights protections viz. Patents, Industry Design, Trademark, Copyrights and Geographical Indication (through Patent Facilitating Centre, TIFAC, Department of Science & Technology, Govt. of India, New Delhi).
  • To develop patent search based reports for the use of selected MSMEs clusters.
3. IPR Cells in Universities-
  • IPR Cells are established in 06 Universities of the State.
Objectives:
  • To work as a link and bridge between Patent Information Centre, CST, UP and university and its affiliated colleges.
  • To advise and guide researchers on basics of IPR, especially patents with the help of PIC if necessary.
  • Encourage faculty members to carry out patent searches in- house and/or at PIC and to fine – tune their research.
  • To facilitate clearance from the competent authority for filing patent and forward it for IP protection to PIC, UP.
