Following the recommendation of National Committee of Science and Technology, State Council Of Science and Technology,U.P. was established on 1 of May, 1975 by Govt. of U.P. as an autonomous body registered under Societies Registration Act 1860 by restructuring U.P. State Council of Scientific and Industrial Research; the origin of which lies in Scientific Research Committee constituted under University Grant Commission in the year 1947.
The main aim of the Council is to promote overall development of SandT in the State. Research Promotion; Technology Development, Upgradation and Transfer; Entrepreneurship Development; and SandT Communication and Popularisation are the main activities of the Council.
It sponsors time bound and result-oriented programmes relevant to the state to various Universities,Colleges, Technical Institutions, R and D Laboratories, Voluntary Organisations (VOs) Non-Government Organisations (NGOs) and Individual Innovators
